Feeling Left Out as S51 Begins Filming

I saw online that filming for Season 51 has begun in Fiji.

I feel very left out.

People might assume this website makes me a superfan.
Not exactly. I’m a super applicant.

If you need proof, here’s Exhibit A:

During COVID, when many new fans were born, I actually drifted away. Episodes piled up in my DVR. I avoided Survivor news entirely, and the algorithms eventually stopped feeding me updates. I didn’t even know there was a Survivor thread on Reddit until two years ago.

The “new era” — Seasons 41 through 49 — is honestly a blur. I binged a few seasons back-to-back while recovering from life-saving surgery, then let more episodes stack up again. I probably applied every casting cycle (super applicant, remember), but the day-to-day watching didn’t light me up the way it used to. Maybe it was the 26-day format. Maybe it was the casting shift. Maybe it was me.

I can’t recall many contestants from those seasons. I’d struggle to name half the winners.

Still, when I saw S51 had started filming, curiosity pulled me back to r/Survivor. I saw a thread speculating that S52 might be a returnee season. Wasn’t that supposed to be Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans?

Maybe this summer I’ll finally watch S50. For now, I’ll keep writing.

I hoped this website might get me a call.

S51 would’ve been better with me in it.
